I must make it clear that I am far from an experienced gardener. I am a florist, yes and I love all things that grow but I haven't accumulated years of gardening. It was a common mistake for people to think I knew everything about gardening being a florist but I often compared myself to a chef who you wouldn't expect to know how to run a farm.
However, I am so happy to be learning and developing my knowledge especially now that I am on a journey to waste less and create more. There's nothing like getting stuck in to learn a skill. And this year, I've learnt and hopefully shared heaps!
One thing I have to tell you though is that I have made mistakes, lots of them but there is nothing like a mistake to learn from. The one mistake I am thinking of right now is my pumpkins. While I have some beautiful butternut squash and pumpkins growing, I didn't quite take into account the amount of space they need. So, while I was happily stuffing lots of seeds under my shrubs and around my flowers, I had no idea that they would spread like triffids and take over everything! They're heading towards my climbing roses and look set to have a go at those as well.

So this is a little seed of knowledge I will take away with me for next year but I am still very much looking forward to the pumpkins being ready!!
My message here is don't be afraid to give it a go and make mistakes because the worst that can happen is that you learn.
